The Roulette game comes from 18th century France, when the first primitive forms of this game emerged. The first description of the roulette game in its current form was found in the french novel "La Roulette ou le Jour" by Jaques Lablee, in which describes a roulette in the Palais Royal in Paris.
The roulette wheel is believed to be a fusion of the English games - "Roly-Poly", "Reiner" and "Ace of Hearts" and the name "roulette" came from already existing French board game.
In the 1800s, the roulette start to gain popularity all over Europe and the USA. In 1860s in which the German government banned the gambling games, most of the casino's owners moved to Monte Carlo which became a gambling mecca for the Europe elite. There the Blanca family showed a roulette game with only one zero(i.e. no "00" on the roulette wheel ) which became the premier game and over the years gain popularity all over the world, except for the USA
In the USA, the double zero roulette wheel spread from New Orleans to Mississippi and the westward. Along the years the table layout was changed - the wheel was placed on the top of the table to prevent cheating, and later this form of the game became the American style roulette
During the first years of 20th century the only major roulette casinos could be found only in Las Vegas USA, and Monte Carlo Europe, but now there are casinos where you can play roulette all over the world and even on the Internet.
