Although there is not much information about the invention of the Texas Hold'em, The Texas State Legislature officially recognizes the game's birth place to be Robstown (a small town in south Texas). The game is supposed to be dating since the early years of 20th century.

After the game's spread throughout the state of Texas, in 1967 hold'em was introduced to the city of Las Vegas by Crandell Addington, Amarillo Slim and Doyol Brunson (a group of Texan gamblers). The game was cold just hold'em instead of Texas Hold'em at that time.

Gold Nugget was the only casino in Las Vegas offering the game in the first several years after it's introducing. But that casino wasn't among the very elite ones at that time so the Texas Hold'em was not receiving big attention in those years. Two years later, in 1969, the Las Vegas professionals and rich players were invited to play the game at Dunes Casino. This prominent location and the inexperience of the players with Texas Hold'em, resulted in a very profitable game for professional players.

In 1969 Tom Moore added the first poker tournament to the Second Annual Gambling Fraternity Convention which featured several games including Texas Hold'em. One year later Jack and Benny Binion acquired the rights to this convention and moved it to their casino in Las Vegas called Binion's Horseshoe Casino. The convention was as well renamed to "World Series of Poker". Not much later the main event of that tournament was suggested to be a no-limit Texas Hold'em by a famous journalist at that time – Tom Thackrey. His idea was accepted and since then the game Texas Hold'em has been played as a main event there.

In the beginning of the 80's the interest in Texas Hold'em began to grow outside Las Vegas and the state of Nevada and spread throughout the United stated. Not much later the game was introduced to European card Players. Now Texas Hold'em is considered to be one of the most entertaining, remunerative and professional poker card games in the world.
