blackjack article Blackjack overview and useful advices

Note: First of all we want to note some things associated with this article:

  • The blackjack strategy approaches and advices apply to Blackjack games with 1, 3 or 5 players.
  • As you probably know luck plays a big role in the game of Blackjack so the approaches and advices described below can't guarantee 100% success but can only help you increase your chances in the long term.

The unpredictability of the cards in Blackjack means there can't be a strategy that guarantees constant success for the player but there are ways you can improve your chances by taking maximum advantages from the opportunities every situation offers.

Depending on the cards you have in your hands and those that the dealer has on the table there are different approaches for the different situations that are accepted to be the most successful.

"Hard" number is that one in which each of the 2 cards in your hand are different than aces.

"Soft" number consists of one Ace and has to potential values. For example if you have A-5 then you have either 6 or 16 in the same time. That hand offers you a higher chance to have 16 than in case you had 10-6.

This strategy recommends that you don't split the 10s but geminate in case you have 11 against everything different than an Ace for the dealer and to pass with 12 against 6 for the dealer.

That is probably not the typical style of your play but it is mathematically determined to be the best way to increase your winning chances.

You can try applying that strategy so you can see what the Blackjack experts recommend and how that likes you. But still remember that there is no stable strategy that can 100% guarantee your success. There are also other factors that were not taken into consideration as bets and bet amounts which surely affect the play a lot too. So everything depends on you - you can just try that blackjack strategy and estimate the results for yourself.

Advices:

  • Always split the Aces except in the cases when the dealer shows an Ace
  • Do not split two 5s
  • Pass on hard 13 to 16 in case the dealer shows 6 or less
  • If the dealer shows 4,5 or 6 you will want to play 12
  • You will always want to get more cards until you reach 17 or better if the dealer shows a 10
  • Always pass if you reach a 17 hard or better. The chances for you to lose are pretty slight so the risk is not worth it.
  • Always pass if you have A-8 or A-9
Every blackjack player should know that the real and most important part of the game is no matter if using a guide or not – he should take the most important decisions by himself as the intuition may often turn into the most powerful weapon.
